Ingredients

  • 500 g lentils, red
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 onion (s)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 piece (s) ginger, fresh (size like 2 cloves garlic)
  • 2 chilli pepper (s), green
  • 1 tablespoon clarified butter or ghee (clarified butter)
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ cumin, (ground)
  • 100 g yourt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ salt

Instructions

  1. Rinse and sort the lentils, add to a saucepan with turmeric, salt and 1 liter of water. Bring to the boil and cook covered over low heat, do not let it get too soft (approx. 10 min)
  2. Peel the onion and garlic, peel the ginger and dice finely. Core the chilli, rinse and dice very finely.
  3. Heat ghee or clarified butter in a wok or high-walled pan. Sauté the onion, garlic and ginger in it. Only when the onions are soft do add the chilli and cumin.
  4. Drain and add the lentils. Heat the whole thing, season to taste and stir thoroughly. Arrange in a bowl.
  5. Stir the yoghurt until smooth, pour over the lentils and serve hot.
