Stewed Red Cabbage with Spices

The spiced red cabbage stew has a rich flavor thanks to the use of red wine and wine vinegar. Stewed red cabbage is perfect for meat dishes as a side dish.
Ingredients
- Red cabbage – 300 g
- Sugar – 1 tbsp
- Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
- Red wine (dry) – 65 ml
- Wine red vinegar – 15 ml
- Bay leaf – 1 pc.
- Cinnamon stick – 1/3 pc.
- Cloves in buds – 1 pc.
Directions
- We prepare products for stewed red cabbage with spices.
- How to make spiced red cabbage stew:
- Remove the top leaves from the cabbage, and then finely chop it.
- Pour vegetable oil into the pan, heat it up. We shift the sliced red cabbage into the heated oil.
- Fry the cabbage for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the declared amount of granulated sugar to the red cabbage.
- Then add a clove bud, bay leaf, and cinnamon. Pour in red wine and vinegar.
- Simmer cabbage with spices for 20 minutes. At the end of cooking, remove the bay leaf and cinnamon stick. Season the stewed cabbage to taste with salt and ground black pepper.
- When serving, decorate the stewed red cabbage with a sprig of fresh herbs
