  • 250 g white bread
  • 100 ml milk
  • 100 ml water
  • 2 egg (s)
  • 200 g flour
  • salt and pepper
  • 250 g cheese, rated or finely diced
  • nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Tear the white bread into pieces and place in a bowl.
  2. Pour the milk and 100 ml of water over them and leave to soak for about 20 minutes.
  3. Then add the eggs, flour and spices and knead in to make a soft, slightly sticky dough. If necessary, add a little more water or milk.
  4. Mix in the cheese cubes or the grated cheese.
  5. Heat plenty of oil in a non-stick pan and fry 1 tablespoon of dough as a cake on both sides until golden brown.
  6. Depending on the cheese used, the cakes taste mild to spicy, depending on which you can also serve a dip, e.g. a tomato dip, aioli or light cream dips.
