Forshmak with Nuts

Forshmak according to this recipe is made from herring fillets with walnuts, apples, eggs and onions. Delicious cold appetizer, filling for tartlets or filling for sandwiches.

Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • Lightly salted herring – 1 pc.
  • Boiled egg – 1 pc.
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc.
  • Apple – 1 pc.
  • Bun – 1-2 chunks
  • Walnut – 5 pcs.
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
  • Lemon juice – 2 teaspoon or vinegar – to taste

Directions

  1. Prepare food for making walnut forshmak. Boil the egg (10 minutes over medium heat after boiling).
  2. Cut the fillet into pieces. Peel the onion, wash, cut into pieces.
  3. Soak the roll in the water. Wash the apple, peel, cut into pieces. Peel the egg.
  4. Send the walnuts to a preheated dry frying pan. Saute lightly over medium heat (1-2 minutes).
  5. Pass all the forshmak ingredients through a meat grinder: herring fillet, egg, onion, apple, roll and nuts.
  6. Season the forshmak with vegetable oil, lemon juice (or vinegar).
  7. Forshmak with nuts is ready. Chill and then serve the forshmak in a small salad bowl or as sandwiches.
