Forshmak in Odessa

Cooking at home a delicious Jewish snack – forshmak. Very easy to prepare herring appetizer. According to this recipe – with pickled apples. Delicious “spread” on bread. Try it!

Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • Lightly salted herring – 1 pc. (220 g peeled fillet)
  • Pickled apples – 100 g
  • Eggs – 2 pcs.
  • White bread – 50 g
  • Butter – 100 g
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste

Directions

  1. We clean the herring: remove the entrails, separate the fillets from the bones and remove the skin.
    Boil the eggs hard-boiled and cool.
    The oil should be cold.
  2. Dry the slices of bread in the oven at 130 degrees for 7 minutes, cool.
  3. We twist all the ingredients, cut into pieces, through a meat grinder.
    Salt, pepper and stir. We twist everything through the meat grinder again.
  4. If we interrupt food in a blender, it is enough to do it once.
    We send the forshmak to the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  5. Forshmak in Odessa is ready.
