Ingredients

  • 500g flour
  • 0.5 ½ cube yeast
  • 50 grams sugar
  • 250 ml milk, approx.
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ salt
  • 1 large egg (s), or 2 small ones
  • 60 g butter
  • 250 g clarified butter

Instructions

  1. Mix the yeast with a little sugar and a little lukewarm milk. Make a well in the middle of the flour, mix part of the flour with the yeast mixture to form a thick pre-dough, dust this lightly with flour and keep warm in a covered bowl for about half an hour.
  2. Add sugar, salt and lukewarm milk to the pre-dough and stir everything together. Add eggs, melted butter and enough milk to make a tender batter. Stir the dough until it bubbles and separates from the spoon. Cover the bowl with the dough again and keep warm for another half an hour.
  3. Then roll out the dough as thick as a finger, cut out squares and briefly bake them in the hot lard until they are golden brown.
