Stuffed Onion

Want to surprise your guests? Make stuffed onions stuffed with minced meat and tomatoes. The combination of the taste of fennel seeds with baked onions gives this dish a special charm.

Ingredients

  • Medium onions – 8-9 pcs.
  • Minced meat – 500 g
  • Cream tomatoes – 500 g
  • Garlic – 2 cloves
  • Chopped basil greens – 2 tbsp
  • Tomato sauce – 4-5 tbsp
  • Mozzarella cheese – 100 g
  • Fennel seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Ground paprika – 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar – 1 teaspoon
  • Wine vinegar – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Vegetable oil – for frying minced meat
  • Water – 1 glass

Directions

  1. Cut off the top and bottom of the onion slightly, remove the husk. Put the onion on a baking sheet, add 1 glass of water.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C. Bake the onions in the oven for 35-40 minutes.
  3. Make cross-shaped cuts on the tomatoes, dip them in boiling water for a few minutes.
  4. Remove skins and seeds from tomatoes. Finely chop the tomatoes, cutting out the place where the stalk is attached.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a saucepan. Fry the minced meat.
  6. Add fennel seeds, paprika and salt.
  7. Add chopped tomatoes there, 2 tablespoon. tablespoons of tomato sauce, sugar. Add pepper, vinegar and simmer for 5-6 minutes over medium heat.
  8. Squeeze the garlic through a press to the minced meat.
  9. Finally add the chopped basil leaves, stir and turn off the heat.
  10. Grease the bottom of the baking dish with tomato sauce.
  11. Squeeze out the core of the onions with your fingers and place the onions in a baking dish.
  12. Using a teaspoon, fill the onions with the cooked minced meat from the pan.
  13. Place the stuffed onions in the oven for 25 minutes.
  14. Then take it out, sprinkle with grated mozzarella.
  15. Bake the stuffed onions with minced meat and cheese for another 5-6 minutes.
  16. The stuffed onion is ready.
