Ingredients

  • 500 g potato (s), waxy
  • 0.5 ½ kl. Head white cabbage
  • 100 g bacon (pork belly), diced
  • 2 small onions
  • 1 tablespoon caraway seeds
  • 3 tablespoon oil
  • 4 tablespoon vinegar
  • salt and pepper
  • sugar

Instructions

  1. Cook the potatoes together with the caraway seeds in salted water.
  2. In the meantime, clean the cabbage and grate finely. Slowly drain the bacon without fat in a deep pan - it shouldn`t get too crispy. Add the oil first, then the cabbage. Steam this at a low temperature.
  3. Finely chop the onions and sauté them with the cabbage for the last 5 minutes if you like, but that doesn`t have to be, if you prefer them raw, you add them raw at the end.
  4. Peel the potatoes, cut into slices and mix with the cabbage. If necessary, add the raw onions and season the salad with vinegar, salt, pepper and sugar.
  5. This salad tastes as good with a hearty roast pork as it does with fried fish.
