  • 500 g roast beef, raw
  • 300 g cheese, (provolone)
  • 2 onions)
  • 2 bell peppers, green, optional
  • 4 cloves garlic, optional
  • 1 large baguette (s)
  • salt and pepper
  • olive oil

Instructions

  1. First cut the meat, onions, bell peppers and cheese into thin slices. This is faster with a food processor.
  2. This dish is best prepared on an electric grill plate, a griddle. However, since not everyone has a griddle (neither do I), we use a large pan. Let these get hot. Then cover the bottom with oil. Fry the onions and peppers over medium heat until the onions caramelize (about 8 minutes), turning over and over so that the onions don`t burn. Then add the garlic, salt and pepper, fry for 30 seconds and then remove everything from the pan and set aside.
  3. Now put the meat in the hot pan and fry it, turning constantly. Meanwhile, pull the meat apart with two spatulas. When the meat is done through, add the vegetables again and mix everything through. Then put the cheese on top and let it melt.
  4. Cut the baguette open and fill it with the mixture. Drizzle the filling with a little ketchup if you like.
  5. Instead of the baguette, I use baguette rolls. They are still warm when they are filled. But you can also use other bread. Ciabatta, for example. If you like it spicy, first put some jalapenos (e.g. from Fuego) in the baguette.
