Schnitzel in Moldavian

Schnitzel according to this recipe is prepared in the same way as meatballs in Chisinau, only the shape of the schnitzel will not be round, but oval.

Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • Meat – 600 g
  • Vegetable oil – 4 tbsp
  • Eggs – 2 pcs.
  • Garlic – 2 cloves (to taste)
  • Salt – 1 tbsp (to taste)
  • Ground black pepper – 0.25 teaspoon (to taste)
  • Milk – 100 ml
  • Flour – 1 tbsp
    For filing:
  • Potatoes – 6-8 pcs.
  • or green peas
  • Tomatoes – 2 pcs.
  • Parsley – 5 sprigs (to taste)

Directions

  1. Peel the onion, wash, cut into pieces. Cut the meat into small pieces and, together with the onion, pass through a medium or large nozzle of a meat grinder. If desired, the meat for schnitzels can be finely chopped.
  2. Drive one egg into the minced meat. Add salt, pepper, and some milk (50 ml).
  3. Mix everything well. Beat the minced meat against the side of the bowl.
  4. Shape the schnitzel like cutlets into an oval shape.
  5. Make a batter. To do this, beat the egg in a bowl. Season with salt, add flour and milk. Beat everything well.
  6. Dip the schnitzel in the batter.
  7. Preheat a frying pan, pour in vegetable oil. Put the schnitzel in hot oil.
  8. Fry over medium heat for 5 minutes on each side.
  9. Moldavian schnitzel is ready! Serve fried potatoes (or green peas), fresh tomatoes, and parsley as a side dish. Enjoy your meal!
