Ingredients

  • 600 g fish fillet (s) (herrin fillets)
  • 250 ml milk or water
  • 4 onion (s)
  • 80 g butter
  • 500 g potato (s)
  • 250 ml cream
  • salt
  • Pepper, whiter
  • Butter, for greasing

Instructions

  1. Put the matjes in a bowl, pour milk or water over them so that they are covered, soak for approx. 3 - 4 hours.
  2. Cut the onions into slices and sauté for 5 minutes until translucent, thinly slice the potatoes, rinse the fillets, rub dry and cut into strips. Grease the baking dish thickly. Pour in half of the potatoes, season with salt and pepper, spread the onions over them, pour the fish strips over them and finally fill in the remaining potato slices. Salt and pepper again. Pour cream over it (keep some cream and pour over 30 minutes before the end of baking). Pour breadcrumbs and butter flakes over it and bake for about 1.5 hours at 200 °.
  3. Beetroot or salad go well with it.
