Apple Sandwiches in the Oven

Very tasty and simple, for children and adults, sweet baked sandwiches with apples, quail eggs, and dried fruits.

Servings: 3

Ingredients

  • Apples, medium size – 3 pcs.
  • Bread – 7 large square pieces
  • Quail eggs – 20 pcs.
  • or chicken eggs – 2-3 pcs.
  • Dried cranberries (or raisins) – 70 g
  • Sugar – 2-3 tbsp
  • Semolina – 1 tbsp with a slide
  • Cinnamon (or vanilla) – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Oil (optional)
  • Curd or zest (optional)

Directions

  1. We need 3 medium apples. We cut them in half, cut out all unnecessary. I do not peel the peel.
  2. We rub apples on a coarse grater.
  3. When the first half of the first apple has been grated, add semolina to the bowl with the future minced apple – a heaped tablespoon.
  4. And we continue to rub the rest of the apples, periodically stirring the contents of the bowl.
  5. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar (if the apples are sour, then more is possible). Add half a teaspoon of cinnamon and a good handful of dried cranberries. (Instead of dried cranberries, you can put raisins, dried and chopped cherries, cherries, dried apricots, prunes, some candied fruits. Or you can not put them at all. You can add vanilla instead of cinnamon.)
  6. Add a whole package (20 pieces) of quail eggs.
  7. Mix everything well. I usually replace 20 quail eggs with 2 chicken eggs, and not 4. The minced meat turns out to be quite liquid, but it will bake perfectly. (You can add cottage cheese, zest, etc. to the minced meat)
  8. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Cover the baking sheet with non-stick parchment or a non-stick mat. Or you can grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil. Or you can grease one side of the bread with butter, spread the filling on the other side, and spread the butter side on a baking sheet. We spread the apple mince on the bread in a fairly thick layer. We stir the minced meat all the time so that the juice does not accumulate in puddles, but is distributed in the grated apples. The juice will flow through the bread and drip from the bottom. There is nothing wrong with that – we just put the sandwiches with apples on a baking sheet faster so as not to drip everything around. Drops that are on the baking sheet not under the bread will burn and smell in the oven – don’t let this scare you or embarrass you, just keep in mind that these are not the sandwiches below that burn. You can wipe these drops from the baking sheet before baking.
  9. We bake-apple sandwiches for 10-15 minutes. The readiness of the sandwiches can be determined by the brownish crust on the top and bottom of the sandwiches.
