Hearts Shortbread Cookies with White Chocolate Icing

On the eve of Valentine’s Day, make your loved ones delicious crumbly heart-shaped cookies. The dough is shortbread, very easy to prepare, and sugar decorations-hearts and icing made from melted white chocolate will give the dessert an original look.

Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • Flour – 200 g (1.5 cups of 200 ml)
  • Butter (softened) – 100 g
  • Powdered sugar – 100 g
  • White chocolate – 100 g
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Baking powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1 pinch
  • Confectionery dressing – 2 tbsp
  • Cream (if necessary) – 1 tbsp

Directions

  1. Combine butter with egg in a deep bowl.
  2. Add a pinch of salt and icing sugar. Stir with a whisk or fork.
  3. Add wheat flour and baking powder to the dough, mix everything with a fork, and then with your hands.
  4. The dough should be soft and ball well. If the dough is very soft, then the butter was thin or very soft. In this case, put the dough in the refrigerator for 20 minutes and it will harden and acquire the desired consistency.
  5. Turn on the oven to heat up to 180 degrees. Scratch the flat surface of the table (or silicone mat) with flour and use a rolling pin to roll out the dough into a layer 0.4-0.5 cm thick.
  6. Use a cookie cutter or cookie cutter to cut hearts out of the dough.
  7. Line a baking sheet with parchment and place the heart blanks on it at a short distance from each other.
  8. Bake the cookies in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 10 minutes. Let the liver cool completely.
  9. For the icing, break the white chocolate into pieces and melt in a water bath.
  10. Important! The water in the saucepan should boil slightly, as white chocolate is delicate and can become sugar-coated when heated too much. In this case, add 1 tablespoon. a spoonful of heavy cream and reheat the chocolate in a water bath, stirring vigorously until smooth.
  11. Place the melted white chocolate in a pastry bag or regular plastic bag and cut off a small corner.
  12. Apply chocolate icing to the cooled heart cookie, spread a few sugar decorations on top.
  13. Decorate the rest of the cookies in the same way. Let the glaze harden for at least 1 hour.
  14. But now you can make tea and invite everyone to the table. Beautiful, original and very festive heart cookies are ready.
  15. Loose, sweet, with a light chocolate flavor! You can make these cookies with you for a snack or treat your friends on Valentine’s Day.
