Ingredients

  • 1 kg flour
  • 50 g yeast
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 375 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 125 g butter
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • 1 egg (s)
  • 250 g sultanas
  • 100 g lemon peel

Instructions

  1. Pour flour into a bowl. To press a hollow in the middle. Crumble in the yeast. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar on top. Mix with a little lukewarm milk and flour to make the pre-dough. Cover and let rise for 15 minutes.
  2. Add the remaining sugar, remaining milk, flaky butter, salt and egg. Knead a dough. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  3. Knead in the sultanas and lemon peel, shape into a long, flat-oval bread.
  4. Flip one side over the other and roll inward. Place on a greased baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven on the lowest rack for 70 minutes at 175 degrees.
  5. Let cool down.
  6. The slices coated with good butter are a pleasure.
