Scones with Cheese and Sausage (in the Oven)

Cheese and sausage scones are a quick snack that is similar to both traditional British pastries and pizza. The dough on sour cream is kneaded with the addition of grated cheese and pieces of sausage, as well as fresh basil. Cooking such a “lazy pizza” will take no more than half an hour. An excellent result with minimal effort is not happiness for the hostess!

Ingredients

  • Sausage – 100 g
  • Hard cheese – 100 g
  • Fresh basil – 2 sprigs
  • Sour cream – 1 tbsp
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Wheat flour – 60 g (about 3 tablespoons) + for burning
  • Soda – 1/2 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Prepare foods on the list. Any sausage can be used – smoked, boiled, boiled-smoked.
    Instead of basil, you can take any greens – dill, parsley, green onions. The scones are prepared quickly, so the oven should be turned on in advance to warm up to 220 degrees.
  2. Rinse basil leaves, dry and chop finely with a knife. Cut the sausage into small cubes.
  3. Grate the cheese on a grater with large holes.
  4. Combine shredded cheese, sausage and basil in a deep bowl. Add sour cream and egg. Neither salt nor pepper need to be added, since the sausage and cheese already contain them.
  5. Add baking soda and flour. Mix thoroughly. The dough should be quite thick and lumpy.
  6. Line a baking sheet with baking parchment and lightly dust with flour. Form the dough into a ball and place on a baking sheet
  7. Use your hands or a spatula to flatten the dough into a round layer about 1 cm thick. Cut the flat cake with a knife so that you get six to eight segments.
  8. Send scones with sausage and cheese to the oven preheated to 220 degrees for about 10 minutes. Then remove the baking sheet and cool the “pizza” slightly.
  9. In the oven, scones with cheese and sausage rise slightly and become more airy and fluffy. The aroma and taste of smoked sausage plays the main note, while the cheese gives the softness on the inside and the crispness on the top.
  10. A great option for a schoolchildren or office worker to have a snack, because such scones a la pizza are delicious both cold and hot.
