Ingredients

  • 1 packet puff pastry, frozen, 450 g
  • 1 large onion (s), red
  • 200 g bacon, lean, smoked, diced
  • 200 g crème fraîche
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 3 slices goat cream cheese, e.g. Picandoutaler
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • thyme
  • salt

Hearty Puff Pastry with Goat Cheese Thalers

Instructions

  1. Thaw the puff pastry.
  2. Quarter the onion and cut into thin strips. Leave out the bacon and stir into the crème fraîche with the fat and 1 egg yolk.
  3. Mix in the onion strips. Season with thyme, salt and pepper.
  4. Cut the puff pastry into 8 squares. Fold the corners slightly to the middle and fold the sides slightly. Spread the crème fraîche mass on top, crumble the goat cheese and spread on top.
  5. Mix 1 egg yolk with milk and brush the dough with it.
  6. Bake at 175 degrees for about 20 minutes.
