Mackerel Marinated with Ketchup

Delicate mackerel in a hot marinade.

Ingredients

  • Mackerel – 1 pc.
  • Onions – 0.5-1 pcs.
  • Vinegar – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 0.5-0.75 tbsp
  • Ketchup – 1 tbsp
  • Sugar – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Black peppercorns – 3-5 pcs.
  • Water – 100 ml
  • Vegetable oil – 30 ml

Directions

  1. Defrost the fish. Cut off the head and tail, remove the entrails.
    Wash the carcass and cut it across into 1.5 cm thick pieces.
  2. Peel and cut the onion into thin half-rings.
  3. Mix water, vegetable oil, vinegar, salt, sugar.
  4. Add onion, ketchup, and black peppercorns. Mix.
  5. Bring the marinade to a boil and simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  6. Pour some marinade into the bottom of the container in which we will marinate the fish.
  7. Place fish pieces tightly.
  8. Pour the rest of the marinade over the fish. The marinade should be hot. Cover and leave to cool. Then refrigerate for a day.
  9. The pickled mackerel is ready.
