Spicy Croutons

I am often asked how to make delicious, crunchy croutons. Now I am sharing my croutons recipe with everyone. These homemade croutons are very good as a beer snack and for salads, which get their piquancy from the use of aromatic, crunchy croutons.

Ingredients

  • Bread – half a loaf
  • Vegetable oil – 50 ml
  • Ground paprika – 1 teaspoon
  • Ground red hot pepper – on the tip of a knife, to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Chicken cubes – 2 pcs.
  • Garlic – 1 head

Directions

  1. How to make croutons:
    Bread, preferably yesterday or even the day before yesterday (good use of stale bread), cut into cubes or cubes. Put on a baking sheet and place in an oven preheated to 250 ° C. Fry croutons in a preheated oven until browned. If there are a lot of crackers on a baking sheet, more than one layer, then gently mix them with a slotted spoon and dry the crackers a little more at high temperature. Then, without opening the oven, turn it off and leave the croutons in the oven until they cool completely. This is how the croutons are dry and crispy
  2. Now let’s do the filling. Heat about 50 ml of vegetable oil in a frying pan, add black, red peppers, paprika and chicken cubes into it. Remove from the burner so that the spices do not burn out, but only saturate the oil with their aromas. Squeeze the garlic into hot oil. Garlic, too, in hot oil will slightly lose its sharpness, but not the aroma. You can take half the head or all – it depends on your taste, how hot you want to get croutons
  3. You can serve spicy croutons as an independent snack or for soup, salad, meat.
