I know this typical GDR recipe under the name Schwedenbecher. In the eastern part of Germany it is still offered in the ice cream parlor today.
The ingredients are simple and cheap, which is perhaps why it was so popular. Especially useful for spontaneous visits, as you can store the ingredients at home and often have them there anyway.
The recipe is very simple: put applesauce in the bowls. Top with the vanilla ice cream - about 3 small balls per bowl. A shot of eggnog on top. If you like it, you can top it off with fresh cream.
The quantities are for 4 ample servings. These details and the proportions can be varied and can be changed by anyone as desired.
Good ingredients (not the cheapest of the cheapest) increase the quality of the sundae enormously. Especially delicious with homemade applesauce.
