  • 250 g butter, or mararine
  • 220 g suar
  • 400 g flour
  • 200 g dried fruits (cranberries, apple, apricot or other)
  • 2 egg (s)
  • 1 pinch (s) salt, (generously)

Instructions

  1. I used the following fruits for the pastry: 150 g dried cranberries and 70 g soft apple slices. You can actually use all of the dried fruit that the cupboard has to offer. I can also easily imagine apricots.
  2. Chop the fruit very finely. This is important because it will be easier to cut the rolls later.
  3. Mix the soft fat with salt and sugar until frothy. Now add the egg and stir. When everything is well mixed, stir in the flour. Finally mix in the fruits. Place the dough in portions on parchment paper and shape into a roll. The dia of the roll is later the cookie size. Seal the roll tightly and place in the refrigerator until firm. I had it there overnight and was able to start baking the next day.
  4. Now cut about 0.5 cm thick slices from the rolls and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Be careful, the dough will spread a little! Bake the Christmas thalers in a preheated oven at 170 degrees for about 15 minutes until golden. The amount of dough makes 3 trays.
