Fish Baked in Dough

Fish in the dough is a recipe for a complete dish that does not require a side dish. In addition, the dough retains all the juices and aromas of fish and vegetables, so it’s delicious!

Cook: 1 hour 30 minutes

Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • Mackerel (cod, hake, horse mackerel, blue whiting) – 3 pcs.
  • Onions – 2 pcs.
  • Potatoes – 2 pcs.
  • Carrots – 1 pc.
  • Turnip (optional) – 1 pc.
  • Salt – 1 tbsp (to taste)
  • Ground black pepper – 0.5 teaspoon (to taste)
  • Cloves – on the tip of a knife (to taste)
  • Nutmeg – on the tip of a knife (to taste)
  • Ready-made yeast or puff dough – 500 g (how much it will take)

Directions

  1. Cut off the fish’s head, gut, rinse, deboned (if possible), remove the ridge.
  2. Peel onions, carrots, and turnips (optional). Wash. Chop the onion with a knife. Chop carrots and turnips into strips.
  3. Peel the potatoes, wash, cut into thin slices.
  4. Turn on the oven. Roll out the dough into a thin layer (no more than 1 centimeter).
  5. Put chopped onions, chopped turnips, and carrots on the dough.
  6. Put thin slices of raw potatoes on a vegetable “pillow”, sprinkle it with salt, dry leaves of raspberries, currants, sprinkle with ground black pepper, grated cloves, nutmeg (if there are no spices, do without them).
  7. Put prepared fish on top.
  8. Wrap the fish in the dough so that a bag is formed, and the fish and the filling are not visible.
  9. Put the prepared fish on a dry baking sheet.
  10. Put the baking sheet in a hot oven (200-220 ° C) for 30-40 minutes, periodically checking that the dough does not burn.
  11. Take out the finished fish, grease the surface with butter and serve.
  12. The fish baked in the dough is ready.
  13. Carefully cut the fish into pieces along with the dough and filling, serve butter, sour cream, mayonnaise, and other fillers to your liking.
