Lavash Casserole “Snail” with Cabbage, Mushrooms and Carrots

A delicious and satisfying casserole can be made from regular thin pita bread. The dough does not need to be kneaded, which means you save time. Use fried mushrooms and stewed cabbage for the filling. The result is a delicious and nutritious meal for the whole family. The snail casserole looks quite original and appetizing.

Ingredients

  • Lavash (thin) – 150 g
  • White cabbage – 350-400 g
  • Champignons – 150 g
  • Bulb onions – 2 pcs.
  • Carrots – 1 pcs.
  • Milk – 200 ml
  • Eggs – 2 pcs.
  • Sour cream – 80 g
  • Vegetable oil – 2-3 tbsp + for preparing the mold
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste

Directions

  1. Prepare the food you need. Peel and rinse the onions and carrots. Wipe off the mushrooms with a damp kitchen towel.
  2. Prepare the filling. To do this, cut the mushrooms and one peeled onion into medium cubes. Heat 1 tablespoon in a skillet. a spoonful of vegetable oil put the mushrooms and onions, and fry over low heat for 5-6 minutes, until golden brown. Season with salt and stir. Transfer the mushrooms and onions to a separate bowl.
  3. Free the cabbage from the top leaves. Chop the cabbage into thin strips. Grate the carrots on a medium grater and cut the remaining onion into small cubes. In the remaining oil, sauté the carrots and onions for 1-2 minutes, until soft.
  4. Add shredded cabbage to the skillet. Fry the cabbage for 5-6 minutes, until soft. Season with salt. Turn on the oven to heat up to 180 degrees. Add fried onions and mushrooms to the cabbage.
  5. Stir the ingredients, simmer everything together for another 3-4 minutes (you can cover the pan with a lid). Add black pepper to taste. The filling is ready, cool it down. Prepare the fill. To do this, combine milk, eggs, and sour cream in a bowl. Salt and stir the fill.
  6. Put all the cabbage and mushroom filling on the edge of the pita bread. Roll the pita bread into a roll. Cut the roll into slices about 3-4 cm wide.
  7. Line a baking dish with foil and brush with oil. Arrange the pieces of pita bread in a mold, placing them with a cut in the top-bottom direction. Pour the pita bread with milk and egg filling and send to the oven preheated to 180 degrees for 25-30 minutes, until browned.
  8. Lavash casserole “Snail” with cabbage, mushrooms, and carrots are ready. Let it cool slightly. Then carefully remove the casserole from the mold, place it on a plate, and serve.
