Ingredients

  • 500g flour
  • 1 egg (s)
  • 4 tablespoon oil
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • 0.5 ½ pack baking powder
  • some water, lukewarm
  • 0.5 ½ pack breadcrumbs
  • 250 g butter
  • 2 ½ kg apple (Braeburn or similar)
  • 1 packet raisins
  • some cinnamon
  • some sugar
  • some oil for the pan
  • some powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Make a firm dough from flour and lukewarm water. The dough has to stick a little bit to the fingers, so it is best to only add small amounts of the water.
  2. Let the dough rest for 1/2 hour.
  3. In the meantime, brown the breadcrumbs in the pan with a little oil.
  4. Peel and core the apples and cut into small pieces. Melt the butter, wash the raisins and mix the cinnamon and sugar together.
  5. Now divide the dough into 3 equal pieces. Roll out the first piece on a floured kitchen towel (with a pattern) until the pattern can be seen through the dough.
  6. Then brush with butter, spread a few breadcrumbs on top, pour apples and raisins on top and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
  7. Shape the dough into a roll using the towel. Do the same with the other pieces of dough.
  8. Bake the strudel at 180 degrees for about 60 minutes. Brush with butter every 10 minutes.
  9. Depending on the strength of your oven, the baking time can vary a little. I only ever leave it in for 50 minutes.
  10. When it has cooled, dust with powdered sugar
