Khatsilim (Eggplant Appetizer)

A popular Middle Eastern snack made from baked eggplant with spices and mayonnaise is hatsilim. If you have not tried this culinary masterpiece yet, now is the time to cook it, especially since it is very easy to do. We are sure that khatsilim will take its rightful place among favorite snacks.

Ingredients

  • Eggplant – 1 kg
  • Mayonnaise – 2 tbsp
  • Garlic – 1 clove
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  • Olive oil – 1 tbsp
  • Sugar – 2 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Heat the oven to 200 ° C. Pierce the eggplants in several places with a fork and bake for 40 minutes.
  2. Cut the eggplant in half and use a spoon to remove the eggplant pulp.
  3. Chop the eggplant pulp with a knife.
  4. Put the chopped eggplant in a bowl and add salt, black pepper, sugar, lemon juice, garlic, peeled and pressed through a press, olive oil and mayonnaise.
  5. Stir until smooth and serve.
